HARS Radio Club Meeting May 2017

There was another good turnout for the HARS club meeting this month.

Opening business from the new chairman Derek G3WAG who took the opportunity to thank Nigel G4XTF for bringing the club to its current status, many thanks Nigel!

Matt G8XYJ briefly explained that we have registered the club for VHF NFD in June and the club callsign will be heard on all bands from 50MHz up strongly emitting from a very good VHF site upon Brown Clee hill, courtesy of Tristan M0VXX. Matt was looking for members interested in operating and any other support roles, which are of course vital. (S)He who provides cooked breakfast on a Sunday after nearly 20 hours of contesting will be a very popular person!
Contact Matt if you are interested in joining in.

The rest of the evening was a construction show and tell.

David G4OYX showed his useful home made SWR meters and a multiband AM transceiver.

Duncan M0OTG showed some very cheap but well made sinewave sources and FM radio modules.

David G4ASR showed his ongoing project which is a masthead 23cms transverter and SSPA with about 250W output but right at the antenna, which has got to be worth at least 400W the other end of a normal length feeder.

Steve G1YBB also took his own design and build drive on mast mast with rotator and self lock for single op use.

As ever proceedings concluded with tea and biccies and a good rag chew.
